These days it seems that every new computer comes out of the box telling you how you “should” use it, with every kind of pop-up imaginable trying to recommend how you should use various services, and many of these so-called recommendations have a subscription attached to them. It used to be that computers received commands and did what they were told. Now, as a user you have to issue a request instead and the computer gets to tell you whether or not you’re allowed to do that particular thing.
Over the years, I’ve found many different ways to make computers behave and start accepting commands again. There’s a reason it was called a PC (Personal Computer) in the first place. It was personal. So, I go out of my way to make them work like that once again. To make your computer behave itself, limit pop-ups only to absolutely essential notifications and make everything else never cross your screen.
So when it comes to fixing your computer, I make sure I understand how you intend to use it, and then make it work the way you want it to, without all the bloatware and extra fluff involved. Always, refreshingly simple computer solutions.

I got into this a little sideways
I started out as a phone tech-support agent back in the dial-up and Windows XP days. The catch was that the company only let me help with a narrow slice of what people actually needed. Someone would call about their internet, then ask about their printer, their WiFi, a new computer, and I was supposed to say, “sorry, we don’t support that.”
Everyone kept asking the same thing: “Well… who would you recommend?” And honestly, the options in town weren’t good. So in 2006 I started quietly telling people, “I can help you, just after hours, and don’t tell my boss.”
That didn’t last long. Within a year I’d taken on enough of my own clients to leave the support job for good. I worked on my own for about four years, and in 2011 I bought out my first competitor and took on the name I still use today: The Computer Solution.
In the years since, I’ve quietly become the place other local shops send people when they close their doors or simply want their customers in trustworthy hands, including Computer Troubleshooters, Professional Computer Solutions, Connecting Point, The PC Clinic of Durango, Computer Medics, Computer Nurds, Mobile Geeks, and more. Two decades in, I’ve worked on just about every system there is, from Windows XP to today, and I still get the same kick out of turning someone’s worst tech day around.

That reframed everything for me. I don’t bill by the hour. I get you a result, and if I don’t, you don’t get an invoice. Because I’m not watching a clock, I can take the time to find the real root cause, the thing that’s easy to miss, instead of patching a symptom just to close a ticket. More often than not, that’s the difference between a fix that lasts and one that doesn’t.
